Jeff Conners - Founder and Instructor. Jeff has over 30 years of experience in theatre.
He has been the artistic director for The New Earth Theatre, San Leandro Community Theatre, San Leandro Shakespeare Festival and the San Leandro Youth Theatre, all in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has been involved in over 100 plays and musicals as an actor, director and producer. He was a stand-up comic with the group Bar Talk and has worked with actors and comedians such as Dana Carvey, Robin Williams, Bobcat Goldthwait, Whoopi Goldberg, Barry Sobel, Shields and Yarnell and Paula Poundstone. He has played such roles in Shakespeare as Macbeth, Hamlet, Petruchio, and contemporary roles as Father Rivard,(the Runner Stumbles) Lord Byron (Camino Real), Rochester (Jane Eyre), Hogan (Island Heat) and Stanley (A Streetcar named Desire). He has directed shows such as Bullshot Crummond, The Importance of Being Earnest, Rope, and musicals such as The Song of Mary, Gilbert and Sullivan, Man of La Mancha (which featured a 30 piece orchestra and cast of 45) Jeff has attended Meisner Approach classes (heavily used in his teaching) and received the bulk of his training at Chabot College and studied with Mr. Herb Kennedy. Herb Kennedy is widely know as Tom Hanks mentor. (and Jeffs!) Jeff has also written 3 plays. In 1999, His one act play, The Angel of the Gutter, was produced Off-Broadway at The Creative Place Theatre, New York. An avid pianist, Jeff has also written the score to George Bernard Shaw's Androcles and the Lion, lyrics by Chris Madsen. He felt a very strong call on his life in the early 2000's to serve in ministry and was a pastor for 12 years. He brought all of his theatrical experience to the ministry and worked on many productions while serving as a pastor. Jeff is currently writing a one man show about an unknown man who follows Jesus during his path to the cross.
